About Friends of the Global Fight

Created in 2004, Friends of the Global Fight is an advocacy organization that works to sustain and expand U.S. support for the Global Fund’s life-saving work.

Friends main objective is to build a sustained U.S. commitment to the Global Fund through advocacy and strategic communications efforts that achieve both sustained governmental funding and meaningful public policy changes. Friends:

  • Directly engages lawmakers and Administration officials in a bi-partisan way to broaden their understanding of the critical engines working to fight these diseases
  • Serves as a leading source of objective and timely information about the Global Fund’s response to these diseases
  • Drives public support for programs that support the fight against these diseases
  • Influences the number of lives saved. So far, programs supported by the Global Fund have:
    • Provided life-extending HIV/AIDS treatment to more than 1 million people
    • Distributed 30 million insecticide-treated bed nets
    • Provided TB treatment to close to 3 million people
