Fundraising Kit
Each year, six million people die from AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria, diseases that are preventable, treatable, and in the cases of TB and malaria, curable. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria was created in 2002 to fund programs that help in the prevention, detection and treatment of the three diseases. With grants worth over US$7 billion in 136 countries, the Global Fund supports aggressive interventions and delivers measurable results.
Friends of the Global Fight works to educate, engage, and mobilize Americans in the fight to end the worldwide burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. By focusing these efforts on decision-makers in Washington, Friends seeks to build a sustained political commitment to fighting these diseases and to supporting the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, a critical component in the fight.
The UN Foundation is a U.S. public charity established in 1998 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner and his historic $1 billion gift for the purpose of supporting UN causes and strengthening the capacity of UN agencies to achieve global goals. To realize this mission, the UN Foundation has combined the tools of advocacy, partnership building and grantmaking to address large scale problems using its unique relationship with the UN and ability as a private entity to reach out to the official donor community and the private sector.
In 2001, the United Nations Foundation was asked by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to be the financial custodian of the Global Fund and serve to mobilize the financial contributions made by individuals throughout the world to combat the three diseases. All contributions to the Global Fund should be made directly to UNF.
Below is a brochure developed to provide information about the three diseases and the Global Fund. This brochure may be used to provide information about the Global Fund, but does not imply the endorsement of Friends of the Global Fight or the Global Fund in fundraising activities.
