World AIDS Day 2012

A Note from the President

As the team at Friends of the Global Fight reflects on World AIDS Day, I am struck by the good news in the fight against this deadly disease. Advances in detection, treatment and prevention have helped us to see a decline in the number of new inflections, as well as a dramatic increase in the number of people in low- and middle-income countries with access to treatment. It has been through strong bipartisan support that the commitment of resources devoted to fighting this disease reached $16 billion this year. By continuing this support in the coming years, we will be able to move toward an AIDS-free generation.
