Celebrating Bipartisan Congressional Leadership in Global Health: Event Highlights
On July 13th, Friends honored six champions of the Global Fund: Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Representative Barbara
Lee (D-CA), Representative Kay Granger (R-TX) and Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX).
"44 million lives saved thanks to the Global Fund partnership and bipartisan Congressional leadership. What could be more impressive than that?"

After accepting the Global Health Champion award, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) emphasized the importance of bipartisanship.

"It is so important to keep beating that drum about why the fight against AIDS,TB and malaria has got to remain bipartisan."

Friends Applauds House State, Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee for including $2 billion for the Global Fund in FY23
Friends of the Global Fight applauds the House State, Foreign Operations Subcommittee for including $2 billion for the Global Fund in FY23 in line with an intended pledge of $6 billion over the next three years.

“A huge thank you to Subcommittee Chair Rep. Barbara Lee and ranking member Rep. Hal Rogers for generous support for the Global Fund in their bill. This funding level puts us on track for a successful replenishment this fall.” –Friends' President & CEO Chris Collins.

The Global Fund Should Be Central To A New Global Pandemic Facility (Health Affairs)

Secretary Antony Blinken Speaks on the Global Fund's Role in Global Health Security
"As the pandemic has demonstrated, the training and infrastructure we’ve developed through these programs [PEPFAR & the Global Fund] can play a critical role in responding to other health emergencies. It’s yet another reason we must meet the targets set for the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment Conference this year, which the United States is proud to host.” (05:17)

White House Announces Date for the
Global Fund's 7th Replenishment
The White House announced that it is hosting the Global Fund's 7th Replenishment Conference from September 19-21.
Thanks to President Biden's leadership, the world is closer to getting back on track in the fight to end AIDS, TB & malaria.
Thank You Sweden for Increasing Pledge Ahead of the Global Fund's Replenishment
This week, Sweden announced a pledge of SEK 3 billion to the Global Fund's seventh replenishment. Sweden joins the U.S. as well Luxembourg and private sector donors like Comic Relief U.S. as early donor pledges in this replenishment cycle.
 Global Food Crisis 'Will Kill Millions' by Disease, Peter Sands Warns
"The knock-on effects of the food shortages mean many will die not only of starvation but from having weaker defenses against infectious diseases due to bad nutrition." – Peter Sands, executive director of the Global Fund.
