Policy Internship

TITLE:                     Policy Intern

LOCATION:          Washington, D.C.

REPORTS TO:     Advocacy Manager

Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria seek hard-working, self-starting interns for the Fall semester in 2024 to assist our Policy team. The intern will be responsible for working with the Policy department on both legislative and research-related tasks. Specifically, the intern may be tasked with conducting disease-related research, attending Congressional briefings and hearings and assisting in advocacy outreach. Additionally, interns will be responsible for working as a team to conduct regular tasks in support of the policy team.  A stipend will be provided to help cover living expenses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o            Strong attention to detail

o            Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work quickly, and be flexible

o            Familiarity with the federal legislative process

o            Knowledge of, or interest in, global health or foreign policy

o            Knowledge of internet research sources, including media search engines

o            Proficient in Microsoft Word (including creating graphs, charts, and tables), Excel, and PowerPoint

o            Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

o            Openness to constructive criticism

o            Capacity to work independently and as part of a team

Required Experience:

o            Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student

o            Experience as an intern on Capitol Hill or with an advocacy organization preferred

Interns receive a $2,500 stipend to help cover living expenses over the course of their internship. Friends U.S is happy to provide course credit as well.
