Friends Welcomes Healthcare Executive Dr. Amadou Diarra to its Board of Directors
Friends of the Global Fight is pleased to welcome Dr. Amadou Diarra to its board of directors. Dr. Diarra brings over three decades of global expertise in healthcare innovation, policy, government affairs, philanthropy and patient advocacy.
“It is an honor to welcome Dr. Diarra to the Board of Directors,” said Chris Collins, president and CEO of Friends. “His extensive experience with the pharmaceutical industry and health policy, as well as his track record of improving patient access, will be a tremendous asset, and we are greatly looking forward to working with him.”
Dr. Diarra began his career at Bristol Myers Squibb, retiring as Senior Vice President of Global Policy, Advocacy and Government Affairs. In this role, he spearheaded efforts to foster pro-patient and pro-innovation environments worldwide, successfully influencing major healthcare reforms and enhancing the equity and sustainability of healthcare delivery.
“I’m thrilled to join the Friends Board at such a pivotal moment in the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria,” said Dr. Diarra. “The Global Fund’s work is unparalleled, and I am eager to contribute my private sector experience to help Friends continue its crucial U.S. advocacy and resource mobilization efforts on behalf of patients and communities most affected.”
Diarra has also served as a member of the Science and Technology in Society Forum, a member of the U.S. Chamber Board of Directors, Chair of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America International Section Executive Committee, Chair of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations Council and Chair of the BioNJ Board. He received the 2024 Heart of BioNJ Award for his exceptional efforts on behalf of patients.
Currently, Dr. Diarra serves as Independent Director (Finance Committee Chair) of the Max Foundation Board, a member of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association Board and as an advisor to the BioNJ Board.
Dr. Diarra holds a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Tours and an MBA in Management from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Tours.
